About Incest Resources Inc. Incest Resources is an all-survivor, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization. Founded in 1980, it was the first survivor organization in the country. Since its inception, Incest Resources has: - created a visible vehicle to give voice to survivors of childhood sexual abuse
- developed and facilitated free support groups and therapeutic physical programs for female and male survivors including deaf survivors, survivors with disabilities, ritual abuse survivors, survivors with multiple personalities, survivors of abuse by clergy and other professionals, and partners of survivors
- trained mental health and other helping professionals to improve services to hearing and deaf survivors and incestuous families
- offered free legal information and advocacy for victims and survivors of sexual abuse and for non-offending parents
- provided a survivor phone-line, free referral and resource information, and original literature and recovery materials to survivors and professionals
- educated and sensitized the public and the Church about sexual abuse as a societal and political issue
- fought for legislation to expand mandated reporting of child physical and sexual abuse and to extend the statute of limitations for the prosecution of offenders
- and served as a model for other survivor organizations worldwide.
