For incest survivors in many areas, the search for group support can be frustrating and, ultimately, unrewarding. In the absence of adequate or affordable community services, survivors may still find themselves, as the founders of *Incest Resources did in 1980, having to organize on their own behalf.

This training/preparation manual for survivors and others wishing to establish a local, facilitated support group is based upon the groupwork model developed by Incest Resources, Inc. This model has been used successfully by female incest suvivors, male sexual abuse survivors, deaf incest survivors, survivors with disabilities, female partners of survivors, male partners of survivors, and female rape survivors since it was formally introduced in 1983.
